Time to Go Green with SATAT Scheme
Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG) is an alternative green transport fuel that contributes towards a greener and cleaner future. In order to set up more CBG plants and promote a sustainable future, the Government of India is taking many initiatives to boost the production of CBG and embrace its usability. In this endeavour, the Petroleum Minister launched SATAT initiative with PSU Oil Marketing Companies to invite the Expression of Interest from potential entrepreneurs. In this initiative, entrepreneurs can set up CBG plants and make it available in the market for use as an automotive fuel. The government would also purchase the CBG from these plants, helping entrepreneurs get maximum returns on their investments.
SATAT stands for Sustainable Alternative Towards Affordable Transportation and aims to set up at least 5000 CBG plants by 2023. For entrepreneurs, there won’t be any restriction on the technology choice and the government will also incur a capital expenditure of Rs. 75,000 crores to help setup the entire infrastructure for city gas distribution network.
